Rhinoplasty without breaking any nasal bones

The goal of modern rhinoplasty is to create a naturally contoured and aesthetically pleasing nose. The new shape has to be well-balanced with existing features of your face. Presurgical planning is key and it should always include an improvement of nasal breathing whenever needed. Rhinoplasty is known to be one of the most difficult procedures in aesthetic plastic surgery. This is due to the exposed position of the nose in the centre of our face. Another reason why this surgery is so challenging is the complex anatomy and various functions of a nose, all of which need to be preserved or improved.

After performing surgeries across the entire spectrum of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery for many years, I decided to place my focus solely on rhinoplasty. I was able to introduce my experience in micro-surgery, plastic-reconstructive Surgery and endoscopic surgery into my philosophy of rhinoplasty in my Hamburg practice.

Your rhinoplasty journey in my practice

At the very beginning of your rhinoplasty journey, you should try to identify the details of your nose you are hoping to change. This may include a bulbous tip, a bump or a wide nasal bridge. During your consultation you will have opportunity to express all of your goals. After an extensive physical examination of your nose, we will then take photos of your face. Using a computer-assisted program, we will simulate a new shape for your nose, addressing all details you have mentioned before. This process is key to understanding what you are hoping to achieve, and to clarify, if those goals are realistic. Your consultation will be placed in a relaxed atmosphere, allowing you to have enough time to communicate your thoughts with me.

Following your extensive consultation, you will be given the opportunity to revise the set parameters for your surgery and return for a second consultation, if needed. Your surgery will then be scheduled. Your rhinoplasty will be performed using only modern techniques, avoiding any painful nasal packing or breaking of your nasal bones. By using thin silicone sheaths instead, I am able to secure your septum (the nasal wall between your nostrils) and make sure you will be able to breathe through your nose immediately after surgery. I only use ultrasonic technology for alterations of the bony contour of your nose. This method allows a higher degree of precision, leading to more refined contours. It also reduces pain, bruising and swelling after surgery, allowing a more comfortable recovery after your rhinoplasty.

After your surgery, my team and I will see you during aftercare and follow-up examinations. This is important, in order to monitor your healing, as the swelling will take months to settle.

Independent Rhinoplasty Research Group X
